Photo a Day May: The weather today – 28.

Gloomy, rainy and windy.
Instead of hitting the pavement as planned this afternoon, we did not brave the rain and hit up some friends’ houses instead.
It was so so very nice to wake up on this freeee Monday morning, have a leisurely coffee with my son, and watch him and Lily play together.  We had such a lovely day together, we really did. Full of smiles and moods that were good.

Photo a Day May: 12 o’clock – 26.

Today’s challenge had us take a photo at 12. PM or AM it did not matter. I chose pm and this is what you get. Yardwork.
We cleaned up the front patch so we can revamp it all up. Thinking easier low maintenance, wood chips and a couple  big pots of flowers. The fun part will be picking them out.
And as you can see, I have one furry helper, and my other non furry helper boy was having his morning nap.  Slightly jealous I was, but Kyle and I ended up getting quite a lot accomplished today. Even managed to squeeze in a walk and a quick visit with friends.
T’was a good Saturday indeed.

Photo a Day May: Where I stand – 21.

This was where I stood for a good chunk of the weekend.  In the wilderness (kinda).  The wind was pretty fierce but the clouds and sun even more so.  They persevered and came out ahead in the end.
Wish I could wake up and see nature and life like this every morning.  How we must learn (or maybe its just me?) to treasure those finer moments.  A morning coffee in the backyard while the boy plays.  A just woke up groggy caffeing perking up conversation with my loved ones. A late night snuggle with the one and only.  Life is grand, and its a four day week, and again next week too, so we’ve got that.
Where I stand.

Photo a Day May: Kitchen – 11.

Not going to lie, my kitchen, our whole house, has turned into toddler town.  Really? There’s a small block in the pot in the cupboard? Bizzaro. And his play kitchen has a sock, a cracker, and a toy on each of the play shelves. Its amuaing and fascinating to me.

I sometimes struggle with the general tidyness issues that are a direct correlation to having a toddler. Not because I don’t want him to explore, but because I just feel like I am drowning and can’t keep up.  For the amount of stuff we have, our kitchen is probably proportionately the smallest room in the house, and so when its out of sorts, I can be too. I am learning, people. I have got a lot to let go of, and as i said, l-e-a-r-n-i-n-g.

So despite the sometimes chaos (at times fun chaos) I sort of like the kitchen. I like making food.  Creating dishes.  Seeing what new healthy meal or snack I can make for my family.  This is a way, only one way, of which I thoroughly enjoy nurturing and nourishing my family and my friends.  So a kitchen can be chaotic, but its got a lot of stuff, too. Memories of routine family togetherness.  Good conversations had over  glass of wine or a cup of tea, both beverages might I add, may just help us all solve the world’s problems.  Today, as real as I am trying to be, you will not see the mess, the dirty dishes, the clean dishes yet to be put away, the stacks of mail, the floors that need a deep cleaning, or the table that has the lasting remnants of something wholesome.  You get to see from my kitchen, looking out.  Because you know, thats kind of  priviledge.  We just don’t have anyone in here, you know.  It is for you very special souls, who help make our kitchen into what it is.

Photo a Day May: A favourite word – 10.

Basically, I love home.  End of the day means hometime, better yet I should have put the word Friday because lets not kid ourselves, Fridays rule. Home to me means family and family to me is my flow, my harmony, and my world. Love them so.
To be honest, I am completely done right now. Its late, I had doula class tonight, and I am spent. Don’t get me wrong, its absolutely phenomenal.  I am just feeling pooped at the moment and need to take some time. To sleep.  I also need to take some time to write and reflect on the doula classes thus far.
For now, what does home mean to you?

Photo a Day May: Bird – 5.

Today I had the best chance ever for a bird photo.  A bird’s nest.  And I missed it.  The most intimate capture of a bird, its home, its livelihood, where its soul is born.  And so hence time was not on my side today, so this is the bird you get.  Far away, in the midst of a torrential downpour aftermath.  “Don’t get too close, you’ll frighten it.” So maybe not as lively or exciting, this one is out of respect.  We all have our stories.
